How to add your own samples

In order to add samples to the database, you must first acquire a user account. Please contact us via the Contact form and request a username and password. When your request has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email with a username and instructions on how to set a password inside. To access MAP's authenticated user interface and add samples, please do the following:

1. Click on the Log In button in the top right corner

2. Enter your username and password.

3. Click on the Samples tab at the top. From there, please click on the Samples link on the left panel in order to see the "New Sample" link.

4. Click on the "New Sample" link and enter the information requested in the form. This includes the chemical formula of the sample, a description of the sample, and then also the "Box number" and "ID number," which are to indicate to you where in your own lab this sample is stored. By logging in, your name is automatically associated with the samples that you catalog.

The description field is searchable, which allows for users to search for keywords. For example, useful descriptors for a particular sample might include the color, size of crystalites, ground state (e.g. superconductor, ferromagnet, etc.) and transition temperature.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about this process, please let us know via the Contact form.
